Fourth of July

We spent the Fourth of July with my sister, Cara, and her family. We woke up early to catch the downtown parade in her town. It was one of the longest parades I've been to--maybe it was because I'm pregnant and sitting out in the sun and heat is not always comfortable. Jeff brought an umbrella for us to sit under, which made it bearable. The kids got to wave to all the paraders and received candy and flags as they passed.

After the parade we went swimming at Cara's house. We spent all afternoon eating yummy sandwiches and jumping in and out of the pool. Mike and I came home so completely pooped from being in the sun all day, but it was so relaxing and enjoyable to be together as a family and spend time with family.

We watched a fireworks show a few nights before at Mike's parents' house. They have the perfect view as the fireworks are set off almost in their backyard. But this makes for extremely loud fireworks. Last year Abby ended up inside the house watching from the window. This year she was scared, but lasted the whole show standing with her daddy, plugging her ears. Maybe next year she'll join me on the blanket and enjoy the falling ash on our hands and arms. :)
